Hunter/Jumper Lesson Program at Whitehedge Farm

Under the guidance of Anne Hedge, Whitehedge Farm Lesson Programs are developed to build confidence in both horse and rider. Anne's training philosophy is classically based on the American System of forward riding, emphasizing proper flatwork with correct dressage basics. Her motto is always safety, horsemanship, and empathy for the horse. Proper horsemanship and care is always stressed in a positive and nurturing environment for both horse and rider.

We teach lessons on your own horse if you already own one. If not - our farm owned lesson horses are wonderful teachers! They are all extremely high quality, some semi-retired A show horses and other horses still suitable as show mounts. We also have several sweet and safe ponies for the littlest riders! If you are ready to try out horse ownership or leasing, we have a great list of horses available both here and throughout our extensive sales network. Anne will find the right horse for you!

Show Experience and Opportunities

Anne has been training, showing and teaching Hunters, Jumpers and Equitation for over 25 years. She has primarily been involved with private training and sales of show hunters and jumpers, but has a great love of starting young horses under saddle and also teaching children and adults great basics with a solid foundation. Horses coming out of her breeding and training program at Whitehedge Farm have gone on to Championships at all major horse shows in both the hunters and jumpers. Students under her tutelage have succeeded as well from cross rails up to the junior hunters and equitation. Anne believes training should happen at home, and horse shows are where the horses and students can go to show off their skills and compete against peers in their same ability level. The Whitehedge Farm show team will be attending a mix shows according to ability level, from the numerous local shows up to A and B rated THJA shows located across Texas, and US Equestrian AA shows around the country.

Pricing

Please contact us with any pricing questions and we will be happy to email you a current rate sheet. Our monthly lessons start at $350/month for once a week riding lessons which also includes a monthly unmounted horsemanship class.

Attire

Required Attire

Every rider is required to wear a properly fitted  ASTM-certified riding helmet during lessons and anytime when mounted with hair neatly contained either up in helmet or in a braid.  Proper attire consists of riding breeches, paddock boots and half chaps or tall riding boots. We also recommend riding gloves for every age rider.  A properly fitting collared polo shirt tucked into your riding pants is ideal along with a belt.

Where to buy

While there are many options online, it is always a good idea to go to a local tack store where you will find just what you need along with plenty of knowledge and advice. We recommend Quail Hollow Tack in Flower Mound  or Dover Saddlery in Dallas.
